Natixis HKFC Bulls Grand Champions
The Natixis HKFC Bulls v Trimex Typhoons final was always going to be a tough match with Bulls narrowly losing in the last game against the unbeaten league champions. The Bulls are however adept at timing their season perfectly to bring the Grand Championship trophy back to Club.
The plan at the outset was to get points on the board early and they succeeded at doing this with a try from outside half Flynn Kennedy. The game then became a brutal arm wrestle and the physical nature from both sides meant the game lacked a bit of continuity and resulted in both sides kicking points.
Two more tries in the first half from Killian “Killers” Hussey and Stephen ‘Horse’ Nolan gave a half time score of 19-6 to Bulls. As the second half got underway, the signature Typhoons chant started to ebb as Bulls added another try from Rory Hussey with Adam Raby converting.
The Bulls then scored a penalty kick not long after which was indicative of the number of cards flying around as the physicality bordered on the laws of the game. The Bulls late on conceded two yellow cards which allowed Typhoons to sneak a late try in to give them 13 points. As the final few minutes ticked away Jimmy Richard managed to intercept to seal a score of 34 for the Bulls and a well earned win.
